SCOTLAND coach Andy Robinson has decided that Mike Blair and Chris Cusiter will share the captaincy for the upcoming autumn series against Fiji, Australia and Argentina.
In an e-zine sent to around 150,000 supporters last night, Robinson revealed that responsibility for leading the team will be entrusted to whichever of the two scrum-halves is on the field at any time.
'Leadership is not about one person. It's about developing a number of leaders,' he said.
'This year, we are going to have two captains -- Mike Blair and Chris Cusiter; two world-class players; two world-class people.
'What that enables me to do is whichever one is selected will lead the team. But, off the pitch, they will lead the team together.'
Chris Paterson, meantime, has been put on a drip to help his recovery from a foot infection and is confident of recovering in time for the opening Test against Fiji at Murrayfield on November 14.
The Edinburgh full-back sat out his team's 9-8 home defeat by Magners League rivals Newport Gwent Dragons and head coach Rob Moffat said: 'He was on a drip in hospital on Thursday, Friday and Saturday -- not overnight, just in each day to get antibiotics into his system, because his foot was a mess. 'It's probably good for him that there's nothing for a week. He'll need that time to get back into training. It is his right foot, which doesn't help.'
Robinson has added Edinburgh prop Kyle Traynor to his squad for the three-day training camp in St Andrews this week, as Gloucester's Alasdair Dickinson continues to struggle with a shoulder problem.
Edinburgh player Alan MacDonald missed the Dragons defeat with a calf problem, while centre Ben Cairns was taken off with a knee injury.
